Hello, my name is Nyema Hicks and I go to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I am a junior chemistry major and on the Chancellor's list with a 3.80 GPA. I am also an Aerospace Medical Technician E4-Senior Airman in the United States Air Force Reserve.  I have had struggles during each semester with a class or two and have been able to give all my troubles to God. He has allowed me to exceed my expectations with those classes and has allowed me to maintain a high GPA. I have made great friends and created opportunities for myself through his graces, and I have kept him in my heart and mind. I have been presented with a chance to be a part of a research group that will aim to improve drug delivery for head and neck cancers, as well as continue my rigorous studies while being able to serve the country as an Air Force member. I am grateful to my community and church family for their prayers and support.

Hello. my name is Olivia Pattin, I am a junior at Winston Salem State University (WSSU), majoring in Exercise Science. With a stellar 3.9 GPA, Olivia is not only dedicated to her academic pursuits but is also passionate about making a positive impact on her community and beyond. As she eagerly anticipates her graduation in 2025, Olivia envisions a future where she continues her educational journey by attending graduate school to obtain a masters degree in athletic training from a stellar program.

Growing up in church singing in the choir and serving on the usher board, molded my character, instilling discipline, teamwork, and moral values. It also gave me opportunities for personal growth and a framework for life’s challenges. Attending Sunday school provided a strong foundation, that helped guide my decision-making and actions. In college, this background influenced my identity, relationships, and a sense of community, worldview, and moral compass, contributing to my academic and personal success.

Beyond the classroom, Olivia is driven by a desire to give back to her community. She dreams of using her knowledge and skills to help and support those around her, particularly focusing on assisting community athletes so they can stay healthy and have a promising future in athletics. Her vision extends further as she aspires to contribute by using her knowledge and skills to help individuals lead healthier and more active lives.

Looking ahead, Olivia has set her sights on a remarkable goal – securing employment at the professional level as an Athletic Trainer, ideally with a prominent sports team. Her dedication to both academic excellence and community service exemplifies the values that have been instilled in her.

Being a college football player has been challenging and busy, but I have consciously tried to keep God at the center of my life. I have regularly attended my Fellow Christian Athlete meetings and participated in campus ministry activities with some teammates. I have had some bumps in the classroom and on the field, but I try to keep my faith in God because I know he will make way for me.  Hello, my name is Jacari. I am a passionate and driven individual with a strong interest in HVAC. I am currently attending Craven Community Volt Center this spring in order to take an advanced HVAC class. I hope that this class will open my eyes to a daily walkthrough of the job and further my career knowledge. I understand there are many aspects to the job such as: installing, maintaining, and repairing heating/ventilation/AC systems. I started this interest in the fall where I began taking HVAC classes at the Craven Community Volt Center. During my time there I maintained good grades - A’s and B’s, as well as, perfect attendance.  I owe all of my accomplishments to God. I am very involved in my church through playing drums when needed, youth hour, and Sunday school. My faith was tested with many challenges, but God gave me the strength to overcome everything. A lot of amazing people were set in my path to help push me closer to him.
